This image represents the microstructure of zinc oxide on a gold alloy (Au 60% wt). The alloy contains Pd, Ag, Cu and Zn also. Such oxides grow on the surface on cooling the alloy from the melting temperature (1300°C) and appear white when observed with naked eye. The image was obtained with a water vapour pressure of 1.6 Torr into the analysis chamber of the ESEM XL30 TMP Philips Electron Microscope. The small marker at the right bottom of the image represents a length of 10 µm (0.01 mm).To buy a 300 dpi image..
