ESEM Scanning Electron Microscope.
The image in this page shows the microstructure of Aluminum Hydroxides formed on the surface of an aluminum alloy component in aqueous environment.
The surface underwent the action of sulfate-reducing bacteria, which promoted corrosion.
Crystals are Aluminum Hydroxide.
The image was obtained by means of a PHILIPS ESEM XL 30 TMP W Scanning Electron Microscope.
The white line at the bottom right of the image indicates a length of 50 microns.
