Here you can see an image of the micro-effervescence of an effervescent aspirin. The image was obtained by the ESEM XL30 TMP Philips Electron Microscope, with a water vapour pressure of 3.4 Torr into the analysis chamber. The aspirin was maintained at 6 °C during image acquisition. The small marker at the right bottom of the image represents a length of 20 microns (0.02 mm). The choice of proper pressure and temperature allows for the observation of dynamic processes into the ESEM analysis chamber. The collection of such images in sequence can be used for the realization of movies. To buy a 300 dpi image or the micro effervescence movie.
| The movie below (282 Kb) is a short and low-resolution version of the original one. It shows the aspirin surface and the micro-effervescence induced changing the water vapour pressure and the temperature of the sample. |
